The story of a teenage boy who pedalled every day from Isola, a small Istrian fishing town, for miles to reach the legendary Triestina Boxing Academy to learn all the secrets of boxing.
His tenacity and innate skills would lead him to the mythical conquest of the world middleweight title at Madison Square Garden in New York.
One of the many victories that Nino Benvenuti achieved in his prestigious career.
But we will not only recount his boxing career but also his life full of successes, his forced exodus from Istria, his values, his sense of friendship towards his opponents, and his sporting loyalty through the voices of many sportsmen and women who were lucky enough to know him.
The documentary about the life of the famous Italian champion is now in production.
It will be directed by Tommaso Cennamo. The documentary is co-produced with Rai Documentari and will be aired in 2025.
Filming is planned in Rome, Naples, Trieste and Isola, Benvenuti’s birthplace.
